Frank Stella

A graduate of Princeton University, this abstract expressionism artist is perhaps best known his work in the areas of minimalism and post-painterly abstraction. He is recognized as leading figure in the Minimalist art movement and later became known for his irregularly shaped works. Stella’s work was included in several important exhibitions that defined 1960s art, among them the Guggenheim Museum, Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Neue National Galerie (Berlin), Royal Academy of Arts (London), Whitney Museum of American Art and many more. In 2009, Frank Stella was awarded the National Medal of Arts by President Barack Obama. This very important American artist continues to live and work in New York.
